I'm Heather Johnson, and I'm obsessed with dirt. I found my passion in college when I took a ceramics class on a whim. I had no idea what I was getting into, nor did I realize I would be taking a step towards my future career. I was hooked my first day, and I haven't stopped talking about dirt since.
I love the functionality of clay and the idea of interacting with art in everyday life. Cups can be made with a rim that is tilted perfectly to take a drink. Texture can be added to enhance the beauty and experience of a plate or bowl. The action of using clay daily makes simple and overlooked actions of eating and drinking artful experiences. Every meal of the day is celebrated. When your cabinets are full of clay, you find yourself gravitating towards your favorite mug because of the handle and how it feels when you drink coffee from it. You grab a certain plate because the rim curves perfectly to hold a tasty salad or pasta dish. Clay seems to make every meal more delicious and every drink worth sipping a little longer.
Since moving to Nashville, TN my obsession with this medium has only grown and I'm convinced I'll never stop creating. Thank you for visiting my website and supporting this dream of mine!
